Professional Practice & Code of Conduct

1. A practising hypnotherapist must never misrepresent or Misinterpretation their work as medical in nature or misrepresent their training as medicalunless they hold such Medical qualifications.

2. A practising therapist shall at all times conduct himself or herself in professional manner.

3. No therapist shall make any exaggerated claims to cure any person during any form of treatment.4. The therapist shall at all times work with the client's best interests in mind, and never just to satisfy the mind of the therapist.

5. No therapist shall work whilst he or she is suffering from any form of severe emotional disorder that could impair their judgement during therapy work, ex. Psychosis, or sever depression.

6. No therapist shall in any way discriminate any other form of alternative or medical practice.

7. Therapists shall work only within what they have been trained, and should never attempt any form of treatment of which they are unsure or incapable of treating by any form of suggestion

8. The therapist must have public liability insurance at all times whilst in practice, and renew such insurance annually to remain a member.

9. Confidentiality of the client. No therapist shall reveal any client's information of treatment or sessions to any other member of their family or any other person without the consent of the client in writing.

10. The therapist shall at all times maintain data of records of client's sessions and this may be requested by the Executive Director of Studies for inspection to insure that such files are maintained professionally.

11. Therapists to be aware when working with a person of the opposite sex to either record such sessions or have a third party sitting in on such sessions.

12. It is the right of the Executive Director of Studies to change the program of training whenever new guidelines are necessary or compulsory or when it is advantages to the training program of the I.I.C.M.H

13. Any member found to be offering or exchanging any information or knowledge gained via training through the International Institute of Clinical and Medical Hypnosis or the Welsh Society of Registered Clinical Hypnotherapists will be banned for life, (Signed Die) from both associations and will be found in breach of the copyright act

Any perpetrator found in breach of theses rules will be Signed will be dealt with by the courts for compensation by the Director of studies Dr, Lyn M. Bateman. PHD. under the copyrights act.

15. Disciplinary Committee:-

The duty of the Disciplinary Committee shall be to consider and adjudicate upon any complaint made against a member concerning an alleged breach of the Code for the time being in force or to consider on its own mention any circumstances coming to its knowledge which might constitute a breach of the Code Disciplinary Committee.

The Director of Studies and Chairman will decide on a four person disciplinary committee should this be required. And any person in breach will be allowed to express their version of events during such a meeting held by the above committee, the chosen committee will request the person/persons leave the room whilst they make their decision, and the offender will be allowed to re-enter the room and told of the committee’s decision, by the Executive Director of Studies. The committee’s decision will be upheld and final

16. The disciplinary committee will be recruited as follows, Executive Director of studies, the presiding Chairperson, and they will choose two other people who will make up the four man committee.

17. The courses and associations, meaning the International Institute of Clinical and Medical Hypnosis and the Welsh Society of Registered Clinical Hypnotherapists will always soley remain the property of Dr. Lyn M. Bateman. PhD. Should unless he officially hand it over in writing to any other person or persons and duly signed by his hand.

18. Members are reminded they are required to abide by the decision of client fees as set out by the International Institute of Clinical and Medical Hypnosis Minimum fess to be charged £35 Maximum £250 Per session.

19. WARNING No advertising in shop windows or public places shall be allowed. This will include, shop fronts, Post Office windows, cafe’s, takeaway eating houses, Chinese, Indian, restaurants, pubs or clubs, Other to official notice boards which have wall mounted boards and containers for professional cards and professional posters such as local Hospitals, Dr’s Surgeries, flyers are only permitted if they are professionally produced. if you are in doubt please ask. Anyone found breaching this rule will be dealt with by a disciplinary committee and expelled from both associations.

20. Each member will be ask to read the following, Professional Code of Practice & Code of conduct and decide as to whether they wish to sign our mandatory declaration for membership. They will be ask if they are fully aware of all the above before signing and will abide strictly to the rules and regulations as laid down by the International Institute of Clinical Hypnosis.

21. All members are required to hold a current certificate of insurance and must provide an up to date copy for the renewal of membership to the I.I.C.M.H./W.S.R.C.H.. If a copy is not shown at the time of renewal then no certificate will be issued.

22. When applying for membership it will be necessary to have two written Character references from people who will have known a person for at least ten years. These references cannot be from a family member but may be from any person of upstanding in the community.
